Privacy Policy
We want you to understand what kind of information may be collected when you use the Vocal Range Test, and how we try to protect it.
The site may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the service running smoothly and to understand basic usage patterns. Details about what types of cookies we use and why are described in our separate Cookie Policy. You can control cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect how well some features work.
Like most websites, we may collect technical information such as pages visited, basic browser and device details, timestamps and error logs. When you allow analytics or advertising cookies, Google may also receive identifiers and usage data through Google Analytics and Google AdSense (for example approximate location, device type, and pages viewed). Our goal is still to process voice input in your browser whenever possible and to avoid storing raw audio on our servers.
We use the information we collect primarily to: 1) keep the site stable and fix bugs; 2) understand which features are useful so we can improve them; 3) detect and prevent abuse or security issues; 4) measure traffic with Google Analytics; and 5) show and measure advertisements with Google AdSense when you consent to advertising cookies. We do not sell your personal data. Some data is processed by Google under its own policies so that ads and analytics can work.
Access to logs and configuration data is limited to the small number of people who need it to run the project. We aim not to keep detailed logs for longer than necessary, and to aggregate or delete data once it is no longer needed. However, no system connected to the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure. If a serious incident ever occurs, we will be as transparent as we reasonably can about what happened and what we are doing in response.
We currently use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site usage and Google AdSense to display ads that help keep the project free. These services may set cookies or similar technologies and process data according to Google’s privacy policies (see Google’s documentation for Analytics and AdSense). We may also use hosting providers and embedded tools such as our contact form. We aim to share only what is needed for each service to work.
Technical logs such as server and error logs are kept only as long as we genuinely need them for troubleshooting, security and understanding basic usage. After that, they are deleted or turned into aggregated statistics that no longer reasonably identify individual users. Analytics and advertising retention is also governed by Google’s settings and policies. Our intent is to avoid keeping detailed logs "just in case".
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, consent for advertising and analytics cookies is collected through Google’s certified consent management platform — the European regulations message published in Google AdSense Privacy & messaging. Elsewhere you can limit or block cookies in your browser, clear site data for this domain, or stop using the site. At our current scale we do not operate individual account dashboards or formal data‑access workflows, but if that changes we will update this page. If you live in a region with specific legal rights around data access or deletion, you can contact us and we will do our best, within our constraints, to respond appropriately.
The Vocal Range Test is a general audience music tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us through the About Us form so we can delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the law changes or when our technology and practices evolve. When that happens, we will update the "lastUpdated" date and, for major changes, do our best to highlight them on the site. Continuing to use the Vocal Range Test after a change goes live will be treated as acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about how we handle data, you can reach us through the contact form described in the About Us section. We cannot promise legal advice or instant responses, but we do care about getting this right and will read what you send.
